The GreenLight Solutions team is very excited to welcome Dr. Christine Cioffe to our Board of Directors.

Christina Cioffe

Dr. Christine Cioffe is a Senior Advisor and Board of Advisor member for a variety of Private equity and Venture Capital firms specializing in Sustainability, Specialty Industrials, Agriculture and BioPharma. In recent years, Chris was the Senior Vice President of PepsiCo where she headed the research and development function, from 2010 to 2020. Her roles at PepsiCo include Senior Vice President of Strategy and Platform Portfolio Management and Senior Vice President of Global Snacks R&D. Chris was responsible for the leadership of the Global Snacks R&D associates who work across the globe in developing and delivering innovation, productivity, brand stewardship and new discovery platforms. As part of its ongoing transformation journey, PepsiCo continues to encourage greater connectivity across all regions and function capability teams, driving partnership and efficiency across the globe. Previously, Chris established and led the PepsiCo Sustainability Office, which works across sectors, categories, brands and functions, in the creation and management of the PepsiCo Performance with the Purpose 2025 program. 

Prior to joining PepsiCo, Chris was the Executive Director of Comparative Medicine and Early Development at Merck & Co. Inc. She joined Merck & Co in 1990 as a research veterinarian and moved into the project management area in 1993 with increasing levels of responsibility in areas of early and late drug development, resource and capacity analysis, governance and decision-making structure as well as creating enterprise-wide processes in strategic planning and operations management. She worked her way up in the company from Executive Director to Vice President of Research and Development Portfolio Management, and ultimately to Vice President of Enterprise Planning and Portfolio Management where she designed and then executed a successful portfolio and planning management process. 

Chris received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, her Master of Science in Comparative Anatomy and Physiology degree at Texas A&M University, and her VMD (Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris) from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed a postdoctoral training program at The Rockefeller University and an executive management program at NYU Stern. She has skills in Research and Development, Cross-functional Team Leadership, and has experience in the pharmaceutical industry. She has published numerous scientific and portfolio management articles and book chapters as well as presented at numerous symposiums and conferences.

Chris can speak both Spanish and Italian and has two very impressive certifications. In March of 2021 she received her CRISPR Gene Editing Applications certification from Harvard University and in June of 2021 she received her online Digital Transformation in Healthcare certification from Columbia Business School. 

Strategic Goals

Chris is excited to continue to utilize her experience and skills for supporting GreenLight Solutions Foundation in achieving our 2021 Strategic Goals in multiple areas as a Director on the Board. The 2021 Strategic Goals that Chris has aided Greenlight Solutions in include grant submissions and partnerships with sponsors, professional program evaluation and development, assistance in student chapter development, and organizational capacity expansion.
